Inducement

Engineered bait — a minor pullback level or obvious pattern that tempts early entries and tight stops, creating the liquidity institutions consume before the real move.

What is inducement?

Inducement is the market's setup before the setup: a deliberate-looking minor level — a small pullback low, a tidy flag, an 'obvious' support retest — that invites retail traders to enter early and park stops tight. Those stops and entries become the liquidity pool that funds the institutional entry at the real zone slightly deeper.

The pattern is recursive: in front of nearly every high-quality order block or FVG sits a shallower, more obvious level that gets hit first. Price runs the inducement level, sweeps those stops, and only then reaches the true point of interest — where the actual reversal begins.

Using inducement instead of being it

Practical rule: when a zone looks perfect and price approaches it for the first time with an obvious minor low in front, expect that minor low to be swept before the zone holds. Traders who enter at the first touch of the obvious level ARE the inducement. The refined entry waits for the sweep of the bait level into the deeper zone, then confirms with a lower-timeframe shift.

Inducement also explains the 'why was my stop the exact low' experience: tight stops behind minor structure sit precisely in the pool that gets consumed. Either place stops beyond the true invalidation or wait to enter until the bait has been taken.

How Pushing Profits applies it

The platform's signal engine encodes anti-inducement discipline mechanically: sweep-first confirmation scores higher, first-touch entries at shallow levels are filtered by depth-of-discount requirements, and the fresh-level bonus rewards zones that haven't been repeatedly probed. The goal is to trade with the trap, not inside it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I identify inducement in advance?

Look for the obvious minor swing in front of a deeper high-quality zone — a small pullback low above an order block, equal lows just before an FVG. If a level looks easy, assume it's bait sitting in front of the real level.

Is inducement the same as a liquidity sweep?

Inducement is the bait (the engineered level that attracts orders); the sweep is the consumption (price running through it). Inducement is identified before the fact, the sweep confirms it after.

Does inducement exist on higher timeframes?

Yes — a daily 'support retest' that holds for days can be the inducement for a weekly-level sweep. The bigger the timeframe, the bigger the trap and the more meaningful the resolution.
